Playstation.Blog tells us, we’ve announced a new Wireless Keypad for PS3 that will make
text communications and Web browsing much easier. The Wireless Keypad snaps onto the top of a SIXAXIS or DUAL SHOCK 3
wireless controller and comes with some cool features, including a mode
that turns the main key area into a touch pad (similar to a touch pad
on a Laptop computer). Once in this mode, you can slide your finger on
this area to move the cursor on the screen and tap to enter. There will
be two short cut buttons on the Keypad that will enable users to jump
directly to the XMB’s “Friends” icon and the “Message Box” during
gameplay. The Wireless Keypad will launch in late November.

Sniperwithacause writes "Hey Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA -- we have been just cranking on our new updates for all of you; the v1.4 Patch, the v1.5 Patch and yes...our next booster pack. The
team and I have been watching the internets light up with discussions
about the trophies in 240 and we thought it was good idea that you got
an update straight from the horses mouth...me being the horse I guess
:-) So...YES, hot trophy action for Warhawk is on the horizon! Since
Warhawk released almost a year ago now, we will be patching-in support
for the new trophy system. The reason I mention this is because there
has been some talk about Warhawk trophies super-auto-magically going
LIVE late tonight when the firmware is released. This is not the case.
I know the press release stated that Warhawk trophies were going to be
patched-in, but I just wanted to clarify for everyone. We
are right on the cusp of making some big announcements for Warhawk,
including our upcoming patches and new booster-pack and while I can't
talk about any of those right now (you will need to wait like a week or
so) I can talk a bit about our trophy support in the v1.5 patch. First off, there are 56 trophies included in the Warhawk v1.5 Patch. These are broken down into a couple of categories:
There
are 10 trophies based on the Warhawk's current stats/rank/awards
system. Like getting all your Bronze badges, attaining a specific rank,
or earning a number of medals.
There are 34 trophies
that are entirely *new* rewards based on Warhawks core game and not
based on our current stats, ranks or other awards.
There are then 4 trophies per booster pack that are, of course, completely new awards.
Developing
56 new trophies was a really fun part of the v1.5 production
cycle...but 10 of them are based on stats and awards that you, our
community may have already earned -- so that's why we made sure that those 10 trophies based on our core stats system would be paid out retroactively. Meaning, that once the v1.5 patch is released, and if you've already earned the requirements for those trophies *bling*bling*bling* Warhawk will pay them out to you! Lastly,
cause I know everyone will be asking the obvious question, when is the
v1.5 Patch coming out...we haven't even *officially* announced the v1.4
Patch!!!??? All I am allowed to say is that the v1.4 Patch is very, very, very close
to being released and we actually developed the v1.5 Patch in parallel,
but staggered, with the v1.4 Patch. The reason we did this is because
there are stuffs in the v1.4 Patch that we wanted to get out to
everyone ASAP...but the v1.5 patch isn't that far behind! Hopefully that clears things up!"

s9ecia7k writes "Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer details leaked?(Rumor)
Posted on February 8th, 2008 at 20:21 EDT
Only today the Grand Theft Auto IV website launched with an array of videos, screenshots, and downloadable content for your PC. However, already a source has come forward and leaked some information in regards to the online portion of the game itself. As many of you already know, Grand Theft Auto IV will be the first in the franchise to offer online play, well here are some of the rumored details.
Some of the multiplayer modes supposedly leaked are Deathmatch, co-op, team based head-to-head battles, and online races. Obviously any schmuck with an IQ of a spoon could come up with some random guesses like this, but that’s where this gets interesting. The source has also given names for some of these modes which only further advanced the possible truth behind the details.
The names leaked for these multiplayer modes include Cops ‘n’ Crooks, Bomb da Base, and Hangman’s Noose. These do sound like potential game modes you’d see in a Grand Theft Auto game. They’re quirky yet distinctively unique.
We’ll keep you guys posted if anything else happens to leak through the cracks for the highly-anticipated title.

Warhawk's upcoming booster pack, Operation Broken Mirror, will feature an armored personnel carrier which can serve as a mobile spawning point and weapon producer and also create the "mother of all bubble shields," the game's producer, Dylan Jobe told Brian Crecente(Kotaku) in a recent interview.
"You can roll this around a map and it's like this clean blank canvas for combat," he said. "When it's driving around it works as a mobile forward spawn point and when you spawn into it you get additional equipment."
An Associated Press business article, dedicated mostly to the impending conclusion of that stupid, distracting "format war", has buried in its conclusion some PS3 sales figures. According to the piece, Sony have now sold 10.5 million PS3 consoles since launch. Which is good news for them, as it puts them squarely on track to meet their goal of selling 11 million by the end of March, a target they set themselves last December. Oh, before you go, those who like to dabble in the odd bit of conjecture and speculation should note that it's been Sony policy for a while now to count "sold" as a customer buying it from retail, not retail buying it from Sony.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Toshiba Corp is planning to stop production of equipment compatible with the HD DVD format for high-definition video, allowing the competing Blu-Ray camp a free run, public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday.
Toshiba is expected to suffer losses amounting to tens of billions of yen (hundreds of millions of dollars) to scrap production of HD DVD players and recorders and other steps to exit the business, Japan's NHK said on its website.

Resistance 2 Q&A (PS3)
Ted Price talks about the follow-up to Insomniac's first-person shooter.
GameTap: For the huge fans of Resistance, what would you tell them to be most excited about in Resistance 2?
Ted Price: Man, everything. I could go down a laundry list of all of the features we've already announced. But that's kind of redundant.
So if I wasn't involved in the development of the game, I think what would excite me most is finding out more about Hale, about the origin of the Chimera, about what the hell is going on in the world. I'd want a story that felt fresh with new twists, that was heavily intertwined with the gameplay and that sucked me even further into the Resistance universe. Plus I'd want nastier and smarter enemies, new weapons to play with, and lots of gameplay that isn't standard first-person fare. And I'd want an absolutely killer multiplayer experience.
